We've been trying to use those SCRUM practices which would be a best fit, such as:

Daily StandUp Meetings which made team and customers to be on same page permanently.

Demo of the project to show the work that has been done during certain amount of time.

Sprint Planning Meetings to define precise amount of work to be done.
